A Year of War, a Year of Pain

The Russian Democratic Society will host a solidarity march in support of Ukraine on the 25th of February – “A Year of War, a Year of Pain.” At 13:00, we will gather by Wellington Arch (Apsley Way, London W1J 7JZ) and march to the Russian embassy (6/7 Kensington Palace Gardens, London W8 4QP).

Every day for a whole year, Russian soldiers have been striking houses, hospitals, schools, power plants, and other civilian infrastructure in Ukraine. Bucha, Izum, Mariupol – on behalf of “the people,” Putin's soldiers destroy cities, torture civilians, and commit war crimes. Tens of thousands have died and millions were forced to flee. Those who remain in the country, often our friends and relatives, are being brainwashed, stripped of their right to speak and their right to a future, and then mobilized and sent off to kill innocent people – and to die – in a foreign country.
